Jamaican American musician, actor and social activist, Harry G. Belafonte, Jr., said at the 44th Historical Inauguration Peace Ball, that back in the civil rights era, he heard someone tell Dr. King that the community was on fire and they wanted to know what to do. Dr. King replied, “We need to train more firefighters.” Fifty years later, neighborhoods and communities across America are still burning socially out of control. PPCF Special Events Committee is calling on “Main Street” across America to begin the work to “Help make the World a better place” by making the ‘CHANGE.’ To make the “CHANGE” Humanity has to come with; positive attitudes, thoughts, words, deeds and treat every Human Being with RESPECT. This will give children and youth something to CARE about, RESPECT and will help make the world a better place for everyone! In honor of all the people throughout AMERICAN HISTORY who have fought and died for PEACE, we honor them with these words…, “yes, in the 21st Century we will help America live up to her promise.” Do you want to become a “Firefighter for Humanity” and help make the world a better place? If yes, PPCF is calling on all 50 wards in Chicago and organized block clubs in every state across America to help kick off the back to school celebration by joining PPCF on Friday August 7, 2009 from sunrise (5:45 a.m.) to sunset (8:47 p.m.) come out your homes (before and after work) stand side by side with your neighbors on your block, meet, greet, network and find common interest to help put out the social fire. Next year on August 6, 2010, the Friday before the Chicago annual Bud Billiken back to school parade, PPCF will host their first “Neighborhood Walk-About for RESPECT.” This “Walk-About" will be a “Rite of Passage” to restore families in neighborhoods (villages) and make communities safer for children to play and families to grow. We welcome every state in American to join us. PPCF is seeking corporate, private, individual sponsors, and wants to partner with the 50 Aldermen, the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, firefighter, police, C.A.P.S., block clubs, Chicago Neighborhood Festivals, celebrities, churches, community leaders, hospitals, colleges and schools to help make this a successful event.
